Preceptors - Cosmetic Surgery Program
Preceptors are formally appointed supervisors who offer their time and expertise to provide quality education and training for trainees. They receive support, training, and regular communication from the College to enable them to undertake this essential role.
Preceptor Workshops
It is mandatory for Preceptors to participate in at least one Preceptor Workshop per year. Supervisors at accredited practices are invited to attend. The Workshops will be facilitated by the Dean, Surgical. We look forward to providing more details closer to the dates of the workshops.

To apply for the role of preceptor, applicants must apply in writing to the ACCSM Board of Censors outlining their relevant skills and experience. The preceptor plays a key role in the education, support and management of trainees as they progress through the Cosmetic Surgery Training Program.
Preceptors must:
- Be a current Cosmetic Surgery Fellow of the ACCSM.
- Have a minimum of three years clinical experience post ACCSM Fellowship.
- Be in good standing with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with no outstanding conditions, undertakings, or reprimands.
- Demonstrate a good understanding of the ACCSM Surgical Training Program curriculum, such as the structure, learning outcomes and assessments.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills.

Preceptor Supports and Resources
- All Preceptor supports, templates and policies can be found on Google Classroom. Each Preceptor will receive a Google Classroom log in.
- The College Education Manager will provide support and guidance to Preceptors on all aspects of the Cosmetic Surgery Training Program requirements.

- Entrustable Professional Activities in the ACCSM Curriculum
- Cultural competency: the College will fund and support all Preceptors to complete cultural safety training through AIDA (Cultural Awareness – Online Training) - Australian Indigenous Doctors' Association
- Standard setting using programmatic thinking for small cohort performance-based exams
- Incorporating aspects of programmatic assessment into examinations: Aggregation rich information to inform decision-making
